Michigan Home Help Program through Paid2Care
In Michigan, approximately 1,730,000 adults provide care for family members or close friends, which is about 23% of the state population.
These caregivers contribute over 1.1 billion hours of care annually.
Among adults aged 50 and older, around 29% serve as caregivers.
Of these, 49.3% assist with personal care, including bathing, feeding, and medication management, while 80.01% provide household support such as cleaning, laundry and meal preparation.
Caring for loved ones is more than an act of love-it has a substantial social and economic impact.
Paid2Care helps family caregivers receive proper compensation while providing structured support.

Turn your LOVE and DEDICATION into meaningful, Paid2Care right at home.

The Michigan Home Help Program, managed by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), allows Medicaid-eligible residents to stay in their homes for as long as possible instead of moving to a facility.
Eligible participants are individuals who need assistance with Activities of Daily Livings (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility, and meals, or with instrumental activities (IADLs) including cleaning, laundry, shopping, and medication management.
Caregivers can be adult family members or friends, or external caregivers approved through Paid2Care. Spouses and children under 18 are excluded from receiving caregiver compensation.
Services include both personal care and household assistance. Paid2Care works directly with MDHHS to streamline registration, eligibility verification, training, and documentation, ensuring caregivers can provide safe and reliable care while participants receive the support they need at home.
Providing care at home not only improves the quality of life for the individual but also generates significant cost savings by delaying or preventing facility placements. It also contributes to the overall economic value of family caregiving. Families who participate gain social recognition while earning fair compensation, benefiting both their loved ones and the community.
